Staithes is an unspoilt village of picturesque cottages, huddled together on North Yorkshire's Heritage Coast. It lies on the Cleveland Way between Whitby and Teesside and is on the edge of the North Yorks Moors. Captain James Cook worked in a grocers and chandlers shop here in his youth. From the mid 1890s it became a centre for artists. The Staithes Group included Laura Knight and her husband, Harold, together with a number of othe impressionist artists, many of whom had trained at the Academie Julian in Paris, and who exhibited at the Royal Academy, the Royal Cambrian Academy and other major galleries as well as in Whitby and Staithes. 2,000 £s Week £s Weekend 28th October - 16th December 220 145 16th December - 23rd December 250 165 23rd December - 6th January 2001 320 215 2,001 6th January - 10th February 220 145 10th February - 24th February 250 165 24th February - 7th April 220 145 7th April - 21st April 285 190 21st April - 19th May 250 165 26th May - 2nd June 300 200 2nd June - 23rd June 260 170 23rd June - 30th June 280 185 30th June - 25th August 320 215 25th August - 1st September 350 235 1st September - 8th September 320 215 8th September - 20th October 260 170 20th October - 27th October 300 200 27th October - 3rd November 260 170 3rd November - 15th December 220 145 22nd December - 5th Jan 200 350 235 Weekend prices are for 3 night breaks No smoking, please Linen provided |
